Leading professionals in shipping and arbitration will discuss the developments shaping the future of the sector at a Greece VYAP event held during the Athens Arbitration Days 2025.
Greece Very Young Arbitration Practitioners (Greece VYAP) is organizing an event on the topic: “Current Trends in Maritime Law and Arbitration”, as part of the Athens Arbitration Days 2025.
The event will take place on Monday, 24 November 2025, from 19:00 to 21:30, at the Piraeus Marine Club (51 Akti Miaouli, Piraeus).
Greetings will be delivered, among others, by Jon Elvey, President of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), Dr. Antonios Tsavdaridis, Head of Arbitration at Rokas Law Firm, as well as Stefani Efstathiou, Co-Chair of Greece VYAP.
The program includes two panels featuring distinguished professionals and academics in the fields of shipping and arbitration, including executives from leading P&I Clubs, experts in maritime technology, and members of the academic community. The discussions will be moderated by Nikolaos Gerasimos, Vice-President of the Hellenic Maritime Law Association.
The panels will focus on modern legal and technological challenges emerging in maritime disputes. Among other issues, they will examine the legal questions arising from the operation of autonomous and unmanned vessels, the use of electronic bills of lading and blockchain technology in maritime trade, as well as the impact of ESG standards on shipping companies and their relationship with maritime arbitration. Additionally, the role of P&I Clubs in managing and resolving disputes will be analyzed, with emphasis on sanctions, compliance obligations, and strategic decision-making prior to the initiation of arbitration proceedings.
Following the discussion, a networking reception will take place.
The event is sponsored by Timagenis Law Firm and NorthStandard.
