Singapore-based shipbuilder Strategic Marine has signed a deal with UK-based crew transfer vessel operator Mainprize Offshore for the construction of six CTVs.
The contract for the construction of six supa-swath-model vessels follows the memorandum of understanding signed in June. The deal comes with an option for an additional six vessels.
The first of the six vessels is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2026. With the firm six vessel order, Mainprize Offshore will increase its fleet to 17 strong by the end of 2026, with the option to increase this to 21 by the end of 2028.
According to Strategic Marine, the supa-swath catamaran design provides improved stability, making them ideal for operations in demanding environments as well as enabling the vessel owner to support a wide range of maritime activities, including transportation, offshore support, and research.
“It’s crazy to think this design started on a blank sheet of paper with Mainprize at a conference in Copenhagen in 2016. Eight years later there are eight supa-swaths in operation in Europe, two recently completed and more to follow soon,” said Chan Eng Yew, CEO of Strategic Marine.
Mainprize Offshore operates crew transfer vessels and services offshore wind farms throughout the UK and Europe. The company operates vessels that serve leading global offshore wind players such as Vestas, Vattenfall, Orsted, and RWE.
