Petrobras announces that on August 1, 2025, in accordance with the contracts agreed upon by the company and the distributors, the sale prices of natural gas molecules will be updated, with an average reduction of approximately 14% compared to the previous quarter.

The contracts with distributors provide for quarterly updates of the portion of the price related to the gas molecule, and these variations—either increases or decreases—are linked to fluctuations in Brent crude oil prices and the R$/US$ exchange rate. For the quarter starting in August 2025, the Brent crude oil reference price fell by 11.0%, and the exchange rate appreciated by 3.2% (i.e., the amount in Brazilian reais needed to convert to one US dollar decreased by 3.2%).

It is important to note that the variations per distributor depend on the products contracted with Petrobras. Considering the mechanisms created by the company in 2024—such as performance and demand incentive premiums—it is possible to further increase the reduction in the molecule price.

Since December 2022, the average price of the gas molecule sold to distributors has accumulated a reduction of approximately 32%, including the effect of the August decrease. If all applicable premiums are fully applied, the average accumulated reduction could exceed 33%.

Petrobras emphasizes that the final consumer price of natural gas is not determined solely by the company’s molecule sale price. It also depends on the cost of transportation to the distributor, the supply portfolio of each distributor, their respective profit margins (and, in the case of vehicular natural gas – GNV, the resale stations), and federal and state taxes.
