The 9th Maritime Conference co-organized by MARITIME ECONOMIES and I.M.E.S. was crowned with great success.

The work of the 9th Maritime Conference, co-organized by the Maritime Economies newspaper and the Institute of Maritime & Economic Studies, at the Amphitheater of the War Museum on Monday 12/6, was concluded with great success.
Shipping- Oil & Gas, The Geopolitics, Transporting and Investment Perspective

The conference in question was organized in the framework of the PIRAEUS 2017 WEEK celebrations, where dozens of Maritime officials from all over the world visited Greece, participating in 4 conferences and dozens of maritime receptions.

The Maritime Economies conference kicked off the week's events with a theme that attracted 312 delegates, 18 distinguished speakers and 25 honored sponsors.

The delegates had the opportunity in the 2 sessions of the conference to be informed about the developments in the liquid cargo market but also about the "threat" and "challenge" brought to international shipping by the new international regulations and regulations in view of 2020.

In the first session moderated by Mr. Georgios Xiradakis, CEO of the company XRTC and president of the Propeller club of Piraeus, the following participated in the panel discussion:

The topics discussed were the future and outlook of the liquid cargo industry, the future and outlook in relation to the price of oil, the geopolitical unrest in the Gulf region due to Qatar, access to finance especially for Shipping companies listed on the international stock exchanges and the development in the field of Marine Insurance, in a sector where by definition it moves in risky Ports from a security point of view.

The topics discussed had to do with the future and perspective of the marine fuel sector, the prospect of replacing engines with engines that will burn LNG, environmental issues and regulations in view of 2020 and above all whether it is beneficial or not for a second hand ship to prefer in the future the use of expensive Marine Gasoil or the installation of scrubbers to desulfurize the polluting fuel oil.

The closing of the proceedings was followed by a Light Networking Lunch where delegates, sponsors and speakers joined in a large Publicrelations forum.
