Ukraine to buy $90 billion in U.S. weapons as part of security guarantees

Kyiv has offered to purchase around $90 billion in U.S. weapons, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reportedly said at a press briefing outside the White House Monday.

The purchase offer, which has yet to be formalized, was part of security guarantees that were discussed, Zelenskyy said, according to Reuters.

The Ukrainian president added that details for the security guarantees will be worked out within 10 days.

“Security guarantees will probably be ‘unpacked’ by our partners, and more and more details will emerge. All of this will somehow be formalised on paper within the next week to 10 days,” Zelenskyy was reported as saying.
